Presentation

A graduate of École Nationale Supérieure d’Art in Dijon, Hugo Capron develops a conceptual pictorial practice, implementing elements according to detailed protocols and sometimes employing “products” which he diverts from their original industrial purpose. With their rich heritage of pictorial abstraction, his large canvases stand and confront the viewer with the painting itself where, following a period limited to white and chrome, colour finally appears.

Project

Satori in Kyoto

Hugo Capron wished to take his work in a new direction, guided by multiple lines of thought which converged in Japan. From calligraphy to ceramics, these trains of thought revolved around a single objective: artistic introspection grounded in zen philosophy, at the same time querying the work of the artist and his relationship with it.
