Project
The Island in the Lake
In this novel, Rykner goes further in his exploration of silence and solitude. Maintaining his perception of literature as an experience of dispossession (for both author and reader), he extends his research, drawing on Japanese culture and spirituality as he experiences this dispossession both in the narrative and the act of writing itself.
