About the event
From January 29 to April 26, 2026, the Galerie du 19M hosts Beyond Our Horizons: From Tokyo to Paris, an exhibition celebrating the creative dialogue between Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary French creation.
Structured in five chapters inspired by the five elements—earth (土, do), water (水, sui), fire (火, ka), wind (風, fu), and air (空, ku)—the exhibition explores the connections between nature and creation, and highlights the encounter between the 19M Maisons d’art and Japanese craftsmanship.
Three Villa Kujoyama laureates take part in the program:
-
Jeanne Vicerial, with a work resulting from her initiation into Noh mask sculpture in Kyoto.
-
Sébastien Desplat, with the collaborative workshop L’Arbre à vœux (The Wishing Tree), centered on embroidery on washi paper (through April 26).
-
Olivier Philipponneau, participating in the Baston illustrée (illustration battle) focused on Japanese culture, organized by Kiblind, on February 11 at 7:00 p.m.
