Théo Mouzard and Marine Royer at Design East (Osaka)

The event
Launched in 2009 with the ambition of “conceiving the situation to conceive,” DESIGNEAST was born from the initiative of five executive committee members—designers, architects, publishers, and researchers based in the Kansai region and in Osaka. For the first time in nine years, the event will return to Kitakagaya, Osaka, after its last edition there in 2016. The theme chosen this year is IKIKIIKIIKI(いきき・いきいき), a Japanese concept exploring the harmony of contradictions and the fluid coexistence between city and countryside, modernity and tradition, individual and collective. This edition also stands out for the richness of its program, combining exhibitions, performances, workshops, and debates on contemporary issues of design and society.
Théo Mouzard & Marine Royer will hold a talk “Imaginaries of Degrowth: The Case of Architect Collectives in Europe“.
