Villa Kujoyama and The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S. are warmly inviting you to a talk event, outside Japan and France! On Tuesday, November 26, 2019 a special free event will be held at Noguchi Museum in New-York, U.S
L'événement
For the launching of a new partnership between the Noguchi Museum and Villa Kujoyama, a special night will feature contemporary jewelry designer Marion Delarue, 2019 winner prize and artist-designer François-Xavier Richard, 2017 winner prize. The former artists-in-residency will present their works focusing on Japanese hair accessories as kushi, kanzashi and kogai for Marion Delarue and on the sound of paper for François-Richard with a paper organ.
Isamu Noguchi’s wide-ranging artistic achievements across sculpture and design were deeply informed by his travels around the world, particularly his time in Japan and France, and a commitment to international cultural exchange. In this spirit, Marion Delarue and François-Xavier Richard will discuss their ongoing research and experimentation with Japanese craft techniques that informed their projects realized during their residency at Villa Kujoyama.
Also, we are really glad to launch this new partership with the beautiful place as Noguchi museum is. Founded in 1985 by Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988), one of the leading sculptors and designers of the twentieth century, The Noguchi Museum was the first museum in America to be established, designed, and installed by a living artist to show their own work.
This conversation will be moderated by Noguchi Museum director Brett Littman joined by Villa Kujoyama expert consultant Sumiko Oe-Gottini.
